Antigua Summer Festival 2020 (Carnival) Cancelled


ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – 19th April, 2020

National Festivals Minister, the Hon. Daryll S. Matthew on Sunday announced that Antigua’s premier Summer festival, Carnival 2020 has been cancelled.

Minister Matthew said that Cabinet, during its discussions over the weekend, accepted his recommendation to cancel the 2020 Carnival festivities, which were scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 4.

2020 CROP OVER AND THE NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE FESTIVAL OF CREATIVE ARTS

The Cabinet of Barbados at its meeting of Thursday, April 16th approved a recommendation of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Culture and Sports to cancel the 2020 Crop Over Festival and National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA).

This decision was made in light of ongoing global efforts to contain and manage the COVID – 19 pandemic as well as Government’s negative short term projections for the local economy, regional and international travel and trade and weakened public confidence in attending mass gatherings in the current environment and immediately thereafter.

Vincy Mas 2020- St. Vincent Cancelled

St. Vincent's popular summer festival 2020 cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.


In making the announcement of the cancellation on Thursday morning, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonslaves disclosed that Cabinet has left open holding a "popular” festival at a later date in the Summer of 2020, should circumstances permit.
